Flow
1. Identification
Before an experiment starts, the participant will be asked if they are a new participant or if they have a previous participant code. If they have one, they can enter it to continue from their last completed trial. Otherwise, a new code will be provided.
2. Consent
If the participant has not yet given consent, they will be shown the experiment's consent screen, with an I consent button underneath.
3. Instructions
The instructions screen now appears. This should let the user know the experiment is about to begin / resume, and that their browser will go into fullscreen mode (if available).
Fullscreen mode shows the experiment in the centre of the screen, without any browser or OS menus to reduce distraction. Note that the user can cancel fullscreen mode at any time (by pressing Esc) without exiting the experiment.
4. Intro (optional)
If defined in your experiment, the intro text will be shown, with a Continue button underneath.
5. Questionnaire (optional)
If defined in your experiment, the questionnaire will be shown with one question per screen, with Continue button underneath.
6. Trials
Each trial will now begin. Before the trial's assets have loaded, a loading graphic will be displayed.
Once the assets are loaded, a Ready button is shown in the centre of the screen. This button acts as a fixation point for the experiment; in the results, each trial begins with a click on the "fixation" target.
The trials now proceed as per your experiment design.
7. Outro (optional)
If defined in your experiment, the outro text will be shown, with a Continue button underneath.
8. Close screen
The browser will now exit fullscreen mode, and the user can close the experiment window.
